Sand Fly Bay

Phrases such as "Wow, that was a great walk", "I really had fun on that walk", "I wish I could do that walk again" are very seldom heard coming from my mouth. Especially after yesterdays Okai experience I was very weary about ever taking any walks ever again, but I have always heard good things about Sand Fly Bay.

I started out on this nice gravel road and thought "No idea what the big fuss is. This is no problem at all". It very quickly turned into a shear cliff of sand. So, I took 5 steps down, turned around and walked back up the 5 steps, just to test it out. See what I was up against. "Well this better be worth it" I thought. It was worth every step.

I got to the bottom and started taking pictures. You can find them here. It is about another 20 minutes to the hide where you can see the sea lions. Although I heard it is pretty much a guarantee to see sea lions there I was quite excited about the sand dunes that were right at the bottom of the hill.

I started the journey back up the hill. I was about half way when two couples appeared at the top. They started down the hill, jumping, smiling, all very happy, indeed. I'm pretty sure I swore at them as they passed me. I was not a happy camper at this point. Only thing on my mind was the top of that damn sand hill.

Finally, the car was in sight! I made it! If you have ever done the hill you know what I am talking about. If you say that it's not that big of a deal. You are lying. It is a big deal. It is a big hill. It is a great, fun and very enjoyable experience. I recommend it.

However, if you do plan on going do not call me.
